    Holy copious menu choices, Batman! I came here with my parents, brother, and his fiancée this past weekend for a dinner/to check it out as a potential rehearsal dinner venue. It was altogether a very pleasant experience, if not an extraordinary one. My biggest impression was that there were SO many choices. They have a sizable regular menu, plus a king daily specials menu as well, which made choosing pretty difficult. We began with some appetizers. The first was the Mexican spring rolls (soooo yummy, but sadly only included included 2 tiny rolls, which we split into bite size pieces.) second was the ahi tuna, which was good but nothing spectacular. We also got the spinach and artichoke dip which came with pita pieces and nachos and was delicious. Complimentary bread with a oil/cheesy dip was a nice addition. All of my dining companions got fish dishes for entrees (salmon, crab cakes, and scallops, respectively), and only the scallops were declared subpar. The crab cakes came with sweet potato fries and a delectable maple sauce. I had a chicken quesadilla, which was good and a nice portion size, if nothing to write home about. We were all stuffed, so we didn't partake of dessert. At the end of the meal, we asked the waitress about renting a room there, and she was very helpful. She also had one of the owners come over to chat with us, and he was friendly and helpful, as well. Final note: the inside is very cool--old fashioned and dark. It wasn't too loud either, which is always a plus. Overall, a very good meal!

    I recently went to Tango for lunch on a weekend. The server was very attentive at first. I ordered a delicious burrito. All went well, but once the entrees were served, we didn't see the server again for a long time. We waited 20 minutes after finishing the meal and didn't see him at all to ask for the check. This has happened in the past at Tango: great service to start with, then a lack of service to conclude. This time the restaurant was anything but busy, as there were few other diners. If this lack of service happens again, I won't be returning to Tango regardless of the good food.

    Food was good but service and bartenders beyond disappointing. Drove from Wilmington, De. Never again! Sorry to bother you all... Apparently the world falls apart on Parents weekend for Villanova.... You need to sell your first born son to get a drink or menu. Sat at bar for dinner and had to share one menu between the four of us all the while sat a pile of menus behind the bar. No worries, you won't find us inconveniencing you again... EVER.

    The ambiance is a dim red and the seating the most uncomfortable. The wait staff is horribly slow. The food service even worse. Would not recommend. The prices are way over priced and not worth it. Avoid at all costs.

    Love having Tango so close to home. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food and service follows suit. Nestled up against the tracks of the R5, they have a back room that is designed to resemble a train car. Pretty nifty. The main dining area also has a good vibe. Open, high ceilings, a rough industrial look to it with painted ceilings\vents, tasteful artwork and I love love love the natural look to the "unfinished" walls. It's great when I have people in from out of town and want to grab a quick, convenient bite at a nice upscale restaurant right in town! It is a bit pricey, but that comes with the location! For example...a burger is 15 bucks and I couldn't imagine eating brunch here on a Sunday morning as I could feed a small orphanage at Denny's for a few dollars more. But to treat ourselves to something special without having to go into the city this place is great! I would probably go here more often if the menu wasn't so fishy...The previous restaurant here was called Lewis and Clark's and the menu was meatier! But Tango has a filet and a strip steak and I can usually find something on the MEAT menu or a special that didn't come from the sea... The desserts are pretty good here too...We almost always get the molten chocolate cake, but it wasn't on the menu for restaurant week this year so we got the Apple Bread Pudding and it did not disappoint! Tango also has outdoor seating in nice weather, as well as several different "party rooms" available if you need some privacy or have an event. The bathrooms here are top notch! Clean, well lit, nice faucets etc.

    I really wanted to enjoy this place - had high expectations. First - the ambiance is beautiful - the seating areas for dinner are really gorgeous. My husband and I were seated in a booth so we had a great spot when the trains came by. That was where the nice part ends... Our appetizer - fried calamari - basically was blah. Under cooked. Mush. Thai sauce was ick. Drinks were decent. Our waitress couldn't have been more disinterested in us. I get the holiday season can be exhausting for restaurant staff but it was early evening and the place wasn't yet busy. Personality goes a long way. Husband wanted the jambalaya and asked if it was spicy as he cant have anything that is too spicy - she said it was a little spicy - when he got it he could not eat it. I can handle hot foods and this was too spicy for me. He tried to eat it but couldn't - he called her over and told her that he would order something else as it was too spicy. She never apologized - he then ordered the sirloin. Which came out quickly but I was almost done with my meal. That wasn't anything special at all - even though it was on the special menu for the night - prime rib was prime flavorless. We still tried to make the best of things and ordered dessert which was an ok creme brûlée . Now here is the part I have to mention because it annoyed and infuriated my husband. One of the waiters wouldn't stop staring at me - I didn't notice at first but through the course of the evening it was obvious - and made me very uncomfortable. At one point my husband said something as he walked by. When the bill came I was surprised that we were charged for the jambalaya - being in the food service industry the minimum that should have been done was a free dessert or free drink. Something to make us feel better. We won't be going back to Tango.

    A true foodie paradise! Not only is the food amazing but the service is stellar. Joe and his staff were wonderful, knowledgable and gave great recommendations! If you are in the area, stop by for a true food journey. We will be returning again and again!

    Food was excellent. Son had the strip steak...great. I had the mushroom ravioli special....Really, really good. Friend had the duck...loved it, although the sauce was a little sweet for his taste. Bar selection was very good as well. Overall the food would have rated 4 stars on its own. Service was friendly. One issue was time. Seemed to take a long time to get appetizers after we ordered. Quite a wait for meals after the appetizers were finished. Took a while for dessert order...and getting the order after the meal. Even took a while to get the check. I think the waitress may have been stretched a little thin. Waitress made a few mistakes....forgot one side that was specially ordered. Forgot to divide the check 2 on one check...5 on the other....Little things. Overall a very good meal but needed some improvement in service. But as I said....always friendly.....and that is very important allowing me to look past some things. Was worth the premium price and I would return.

    My boyfriend and I visited Tango for Valentines Day this year. I had reservations well in advance (through Open Table). We were seated relatively quickly in an alcove in the main dining room next to the train room. The ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic. It is cozy and romantic. Our server was friendly and attentive. They brought fresh bread to the table with olive oil. I ordered the filet mignon and my boyfriend ordered the wild mushroom ravioli. Our food came out relatively quickly and was very good. We also ordered the vanilla cheesecake which was SO yummy! The drinks from the bar (craft beer for him, martinis for me) came out relatively quickly. The one complaint I would have about our visit is that it was HOT in there. There was a thermostat near our table that read 76 degrees!! That is a bit ridiculous in a crowded restaurant. Also, it is a little pricey as well but I expected that. They did give us complimentary chocolate covered strawberries which was a nice touch. Overall, I thought it was a fun experience and I will go back.

    I booked a reservation for this restaurant 3+ months ago for a graduation brunch. While the food was relatively good, the service was simply unacceptable. I arrived promptly at the restaurant at the reservation time, and was told they were running behind a few minutes. No problem - until a half hour goes by and other parties, including parties of the same size, were seated beforehand. We were not offered complimentary beverages or anything while awkwardly waiting at the bar, but instead were told they will try to "make us a table." Had it not been for a graduation event, I would have certainly taken my business elsewhere.

    Tango is cozy and atmospheric, but the food didn't live up to the first impression. The appetizers were very good, but the entrees ordered didn't compare. My boyfriend and I each ordered strip steaks, and both were underseasoned and extremely fatty. The dishes also lacked presentation. A little bit of a disappointing experience since the food didn't match the charm of the restaurant.

    I'm not sure if I ever paid for a meal at Tango, but most of my meals have been good. I once ordered lamb and that was prepared perfectly. Some of the best I've ever had. Other than the lamb, I have never felt that the price justified the meal. I don't think I've ever gotten above average waiter service. Even though I work close by, I've never felt like I should bring my wife to this place.

    Love Tango. Came for dinner last Sunday after Radnor Hunt Concours. Pomegranate margarita was made with freshly squeezed juice and tasted amazing. Apple goat cheese salad is the perfect size and is made with fresh ingredients. Waitress and busboy were both friendly and prompt. Key lime pie is sweeter than tart but quite good. Tuna appetizer was great- very fresh. Fish tacos were excellent. Dinner for two (1 app, 3 drinks, 2 entrees, 1 dessert) came to right around $100 with tip. Good pricing, great place.

    The happy hour special was good--my friend and I sipped a couple $5 glasses of wine and the wine was actually quite tasty and the pours generous. My food was somewhere between sub-par and unacceptable, though. I ordered a Caesar salad with calamari. The salad itself--the greens, the dressing, the cheese and the croutons--was quite tasty. But the calamari were extremely dry and tough. I deeply suspect that the calamari had been fried earlier for lunch service or maybe even the past night's dinner service, and then reheated and plopped on top of my salad. So... that's pretty bad. I wouldn't eat here, especially since the entree prices are extremely steep. But to sit on the deck and sip some beverages? This place is an OK spot for that, although Gullifty's in Bryn Mawr has much better outside seating.

    I dream about the mushroom soup here. Every time I go with my mom especially, we have to order it. It's creamy and flavorful, with small mushroom pieces throughout. If you like mushroom soup-- try it you won't be disappointed!! I've been here many times with family and friends. The food is typically on par. The only thing that I have ordered and would not recommend, would be the caesar salad. Sounds silly, I know, but for some reason the dressing is just not good. Maybe there is just too much anchovy? Not sure.. but I'm not a fan of it. The stilton salad is good, as well as the sesami crusted ahi tuna and fried oysters. My stepdad has ordered the jumbalaya before and enjoyed it. The scallops are also good, as well as the ancho-chili crusted tilapia. Cocktails are also very good.

    I went tonight and ordered the wedge of lettuce salad and the ny strip steak medium rare. It was served very well done and I had to return it and they cooked another one. By the time they brought the new steak everyone had finished eating so I had them wrap it and took it home. It's was still served rarer than med rare but is a good steak and I'll eat it. Other than that everyone enjoyed their entrees and appetizers. The service was very slow tonight.

    Ate at Tango tonight. Love the physical space, but the food was awful. I had a wilted greens salad and terrible little overcooked scallops. Even the kid's meals sucked...Kraft mac and cheese (for $10!), broccoli that tasted like it was put in the microwave for 5 seconds, salt soup with hint of chicken noodle (could've used some of that salt on the broccoli), burned (i.e. blackened) grilled cheese. It's pretty bad when you can't cook a grilled cheese right. This place would last a couple of months if it was in the city.

    Pleasant atmosphere, good food. The wine list is good as well. Service was excellent - efficient. Calamari had a light batter and was excellent. Salads were terrific - dressings were fresh and tasty. Parking is easy.

    Awful customer service. I found tape in my meal and the hostess after bringing it back to the kitchen tried to tell me it was an onion skin. I understand accidents do happen but choosing to lie to me is unacceptable. I will never go back and do my best to spread the word on their policy of treating customers like the trash that is in their food. Just to add, I gave the restaurant 2 days to respond to me before writing this review and they chose to ignore me. Poor, poor poor!!!!

    We had a girls' night out and it was my first time here and it had a very cozy and intimate atmosphere that I loved! I highly recommend their red sangria , french onion soup and crab cakes very delicious.

    Going down, down, down! My partner and I swore not to come back for a third time. The service was very clumsy. My main peeve, though is the food. As usual. Bad food. Time to shake things up! We will not be coming back. We would pay the same price for better food any day!

    Nestled next to an active train station, Tango has a cute old-timey feel with modern cuisine. There is not much noise from the trains passing by every 20-30 minutes, so no need to worry about that. My family went out for brunch on Sunday at noon with few others around to bother us. Our server was friendly and came back often to ask what our needs were. Food was plentiful and tasty, if a little expensive (although it was worth it). I had the hamburger with shoestring fries and enjoyed it thoroughly, especially since it did not seem to overload me with food as many American eateries' burgers do. Dessert was also a particular favorite, with many options ranging from a peanut butter layer cake, ice cream mixed with brownie, banana cheesecake, and more. Sangria was flowing from a pitcher for us as well. Overall a very good meal. Good service; high-quality food; quiet so that you can have a conversation.

    I went here with my Dad, looking for a relatively nice meal on the Main Line. The outdoor seating was nice, and the soup was good, but otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for a nice night out. For the price you're paying (~$50 per person, if you get one drink, an appetizer, and an entree each) the quality of the food really should be better. The food you'll get here is comparable to a TGI Friday's or something like it.

    We have been to Tango multiple times and just went with couple friends of ours for a Friday date night. Tango is a solid choice on the Main Line and is consistently good. There are more adventurous choices in the Philly area, but Tango is consistently enjoyable. We always like their calamari with two dipping sauces and I always enjoy their latest iteration of scallops. Tango has a nice cocktail menu and the bar scene is generally happening. Reservations are definitely recommended here otherwise the wait can be quite substantial. Bon appetit!

    I have to start by giving a shout out to my friend Candice for recommending this restaurant to me because we had a great time here. The decor in Tango is very nice; low lighting with comfy booths, very very intimate. I recommend going here on a date. The food is basic American with small Mexican influences throughout. This is nice because there is just the right amount of Mexican inspired entrees for both those you like it and those who would rather have something else. For an appetizer anyone who goes here should try the Crab Cocktail w/ Spicy Grilled Shrimp. The fresh lump crab meat is served in layers of diced tomato and green peppers in a small tower, and complimented with a Mango like cocktail sauce. Make sure you try at least one of the drinks from the specialty cocktails menu. They're creative and tasty. All around this is a really nice place, good food, good drinks, and good atmosphere.

    I have been going here for years and it is always a solid, consistently good choice. They have a fine wine selection and the menu is diverse and interesting. The service is efficient and friendly; the ambiance appealing, especially as they incorporate their location (right next to a train station) with these little booths that feel like you're on a train. I am especially fond of their brunch menu.

    Great food, great atmosphere and save room for dessert, the chocolate molten cake was excellent. WATCH out if you use your credit card. I was overcharged by several dollars by my waitress, Kameel. I will not be using my credit card the next time I return.

    Sunday brunch was terrible. We were three and all three meals were unsatisfactory. Every kitchen can have an bad day but not this bad. The vegetable omelet was runny with a off odor. The sandwich should never have left the kitchen. The special was overcooked and tasteless. It was truly an awful dining experience. We would have sent it all back but with three out of three losers there seemed no point to try anything else they might toss on a plate and call it a meal. Never more Tango never more.

    Had dinner here the other night and LOVED it- can't wait to go back. First of all, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful- high ceilings with exposed beams, stone fireplaces, red and black everywhere- extremely sophisticated. We ordered the Pointsetta drink to start- POM juice and Prosecco with pomegranate seeds, which, for its simplicity, was pretty and tasty. I ordered the grilled rainbow trout, which was served with snap peas, basmati rice, sliced almonds, (a few too many capers for my liking,) and a lemon-brown butter sauce- buttery and delicious. My fiance ordered the filet mignon, which practically made him cry, he loved it so much (maybe a little too much?). My mom ordered the crab cakes, which were great, as were my sister's French onion soup and Greek salad. We were all stuffed and happy by the end. Our waitress was also great and the service was reasonably fast. My fiance asked for some sauce to go with his side of green beans and was brought two to try without any trouble. A little expensive- the entrees run $20-30 a pop- but definitely worth it for a special occasion.

    Excellent food and awesome setting. We sat in the large front dining room with the stucco / concrete wall and the fireplace roaring behind us. My girlfriend and I enjoyed some fried chicken dumplings and a great fried Brie salad. I know two things fried but you gotta try things! For dinner the scallops were great. Topped with a Chinese mustard I forced myself to consume them slowly. I'm not a big wine drinker but they had a sizable list. The beer on tap was good, had two Sierra Nevada Celebrations. Worth another visit in the warmer months.

    Warning: Make sure you wear a dress or khakis/polo shirt (male) when eating at this restaurant or you will feel very out of place. I attended a 30th birthday party at Tango last Friday night. My boyfriend and I had eaten at the restaurant before and actually recommended it to the birthday girl. While the atmosphere is a bit stuffy (very much how you would imagine a main line restaurant to be), the food and service are very good. The restaurant is the old Bryn Mawr train station, so it is a very cool interior. There is an outdoor deck as well which is great for the summer. Our party had a private room with two servers which was very nice. They created menus specifically for our party (we did a price fix menu) which offered an appetizer, entree and desert tasting for $38.00. We were provided a list of options beforehand and the birthday girl and I chose three options for both the appetizer and dinner to offer the guests. To my surprise, the portions were the same as on their normal menu. It seemed everyone there really enjoyed their meals. I had the grilled swordfish which I highly recommend. The portion was very large and tasty. The only negative I have is that the drinks are a bit expensive. While the meals average $20.00 - $30.00, wine by the glass and cocktails are around $11.00 - $14.00 and domestic beer is $6.00. The dinner can get very expensive for people who really enjoy drinking. The restaurant is definitely worth trying though and you usually can get a last minute reservation due to its size.

    Went for an impromptu dinner. The space is nice and has potential. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to its full potential. The gazpacho was OK, though seemed like it was just blended and the flavors had not meld together. Could have used a hint of acid and some salt. Special of soft shell crab yielded 2 soggy crabs over a bed of quinoa, which my wife did not finish. Would have been much better if the crabs were crispy. My special of grilled lamb loin chops included 2 smallish lamb chops with burnt potatoes, mint pesto and spinach. Edible but did not stand out due to the potatoes. We brought this to the attention of the waitress who offered something else, but we just wanted to get out of there. The side room we were in was also extremely loud and I could barely hear the person across the table, but hear the table across the room without any difficulty (and no, its not a symptom of being married a long time). So overall this experience was a little disappointing. If you want a good meal in the area, try Sola or one of the ethnic options like Ekta and Tiffin.

    We too came here with low expectations based on the existing reviews but were pleasantly surprised by our delicious meal. We were on a time crunch and our waitress was completely accommodating and sweet. I had the French onion soup and Cobb salad, both of which were delicious. My mother had the same. My dad got the baby spinach with warm bacon dressing and the snapper and was very pleased with both. The atmosphere is awesome too, it's in an old train station and is very warm and cozy. We loved this place. Would definitely go back to try more of the extensive menu!!

    Who doesn't love lumps of fried brie in their otherwise light and healthy salad? Every time I order the Brie Salad, I shake my head, mildly disgusted with myself, but it's damn tasty. This is every Bryn Mawr girl's "AHH my parents are in town where do we goooo!" fallback restaurant. It's convenient, kitschy (you're in what appears to be a classy dining car, right next to railroad tracks, where a train will pass every so often and nearly knock your drink off the table), and pricey...so, you know, PERFECT when someone else is picking up the tab. Brunch here sucks unless you're more of a "savory" more-lunch-than-breakfast bruncher. Brunch to me means pancakes and mimosas. Their French Toast Souffle fits the bill just fine, but variety is the spice of life, people. Get on that. Oh, and their Irish Coffee? Laaaaame. Not that I don't appreciate a heavy hand when it comes to alcohol, but how was I supposed to sip on that in the presence of family while keeping a straight face? It was not tasty in the least, and makes me love Tom Bergin's in LA that much more. If you're in the area and in a bind, needing to impress some in-laws on short notice, Tango will work, but I doubt I'll ever seek it out again.

    We went out to dinner with friends who chose this restaurant. And now I think I know why they picked it. They had a coupon for a free Birthday meal. That is the only reason I can see them going here. Our waitress was polite, but never cracked a smile. Came over to see if everything was okay after the entrees were served and we had to signal her for water and drink requests. I had the special of the evening..Shrimp Pad Thai. And believe me there was NOTHING special about it. The shrimp was overcooked. The dish had no flavor. There were little if any nuts to be seen. My husband had the Jambalaya. And he said his dish was flavorless. Our friends had the Salmon with orzo and the fillet with mashed potatoes. I was told only the fillet hit the mark. We did not stay for dessert. I'm not wasting any more time on this review.

    Was just here this past weekend for my birthday dinner. As some others have said, do be sure to dress up a little, or you will feel a little out of place. Overall, the food was fairly decent, albeit a little pricey, and the service was relatively speedy and polite given how crowded it was.     Tango used to be a very nice restaurant. It was never a great restaurant, but it was very nice. When my wife and I were dating it used to be the place we would go when we wanted to celebrate a special occasion or splurge a bit. The best thing that I can say about Tango is that their prices haven't gone up much over the years; they are now much closer to other restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, both the experience and the food are mere shadows of their former selves. Food is clearly microwaved, the wait staff is terrible, and the atmosphere has become far, far less classy-- the last time we were there they had a rep from Jack Daniels giving out drink samples in little plastic cups. It was really a far cry from the old Tango experience. Too bad-- I really used to like this place.

    Been here a few times and always a good experience. Love the little bar and friendly bartenders. Also a great date place. Went over the holidays after seeing a movie at Bryn Mawr Film. We opted for small plates since it was late but were treated great by the waiter. Had a window seat, tables have white table cloths, they immediately bring bread and oil. Veg black bean soup, salad and tuna app all good. Also took my mother here for dinner months back and we loved the sauteed scallops and crab cakes. A great little neighborhood gem with lots of ambiance, good food & service.

    My boyfriend and I love this place! They have great happy hour specials and their food is really good. Our waitstaff was very attentive and very friendly. Their menu is a bit all over the place, but that doesn't mean its not good. Our burrito was delicious and the jambalaya was amazing. I would recommend this place

    Love, love, love the atmosphere at this sleepy romantic in Bryn Mawr. You'll feel like you've just boarded the Orient Express if you dine in the "train" room, though the main dining room (with fireplace) is lovely as well. Food-wise, my favorites are by far the warm frisee salad with salmon (To-Die-For, the salmon, like butter, melts in your mouth) and the Veal Meatloaf with mushroom gravy. Might I add that I usually NEVER, like meatloaf, so the fact that I love theirs truly says something. Back to the atmosphere: On a recent (lunch-time) sojourn with friend in tow, I mentioned how relaxed I felt. I literally could've sat there for hours in the "train" room. The booths are so comfy as you watch the trains speed by, virtually un-phased by the sound or vibration. I felt like I was in another world, Old European style.

    After my second experience at Tango, I have enough of an impression to write a review. Both times I went for lunch, and I was completely underwhelmed. The food was mediocre, and the waitress wasn't particularly eager to refill our water glasses. I asked to substitute goat cheese for mozzarella on my sandwich and was informed there would be an upcharge for that. And apparently they served coleslaw with my sandwich, but the waitress asked if I would like to substitute fries or sweet potatoes fries. Guess what? Upcharge! I'm glad I asked because she certainly didn't make that apparent when offering. I truly hate being nickle-and-dimed, especially when I'm paying upwards of $10 for a sandwich. Decor is nice, and the menu is extensive. However, the food was truly unimpressive.

    I expected the worse based on the bad reviews. The food is very good! The daily special scallops and spinach salad were tasty. The crab spinach dip was delish too. Service was friendly. My only complaint is that they couldn't transfer our bar tab, which is not consistent with a high end restaurant. Give this place a try at least once...

    Sat at the bar outside and had guacamole and cocktails for an hour or so before ordering dinner. Bartenders were inattentive and spent lots of time eating bread and chips from the plate of the guest next to us, while conspiciously avoiding eye contact with us. Dinner was bland. Fish was overcooked and veggies were nearly raw in the snapper entree. Veal meatloaf was grilled to the point of charred and dry. Fish tacos were flavorless, served with cold black beans. Overall everything was underseasoned and uninspired. I'll not return.

    this spot caught my eye, so close to to train! The little deck looks nice, I met my previous boss and his wife to have a glass of sangria. Not the best sangria I have had (the waitress warned us as much) the menu was a bit all over the place, but that might be good if everyone is in the mood for different cuisines. The main dining space looked very inviting w the fireplace, but we sat off in a little alcove (we arrived prior to the dinner rush) Don't think I would go back, and the previous bosses wife said the same. oh well, I wouldn't have known unless I tried it!

    The food is not even gastropub quality... completely uninspired. My spouse had the duck, I the filet mignon. Average pub quality at best. The appetizers, which used to be pretty good, are now mostly pub quality - fried stuff. The wine is hideously overpriced. If you like wine, be prepared to spend $80 or more for a decent bottle. The $40-50 bottles are bad wine... what you would pay $7-8 a bottle for at Wine & Spirits. Tango desperately needs a new chef and a new owner. Although it's hard to find a decent bistro on the main line, you can do better than this at Theresa's or Christopher's in Wayne.

    Tango is consistently good. Not excellent, but good enough for me to think about it as a destination for dinner when meeting friends on the main line--I know I'll get a good drink and an interesting, tasty meal. The menu is huge, with selections for every taste. They have a nice variety of specials each night. I selected their red snapper veracruz, it was nicely prepared atop a mixture of mediteranean style vegetables and potatoes. Not a huge portion, but it was satisfying and very flavorful. The service was good, and very attentive, however, our server tried to take our bread basket away not long after we ordered our food. I couldn't understand that. Other than that, no major mishaps and it was a good meal.

    My wife and I had a wonderful dinner there tonight. Food choices were varied, well prepared and presented. Nice wine by the glass selections as well as by the bottle. Service was attentive and restrooms spotless. Server brought my wife wrong after dinner drink, and when we pointed it out, they brought correct one right over with their compliments. We will definitely go back.

    I am absolutely shocked that Tango's average rating is only 3 stars. I have been here a handful of times and each time has been better than the next. The french onion soup the BEST I have ever had and I order it quite often. Caprese, scallops, filet mignon (cooked to perfection), enchiladas, ahi tuna appetizer (unbelievable) and every other item we have ever ordered has been cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. The waiters are always very attentive and cordial. Prices are reasonable and they have a frequent diner program that credits you $25 for every $300 you spend, plus a free entree (up to $17) on your birthday. I would be a fool not to mention the wonderful ambience and the view of the trains zooming by right next to the windows (it's an old train station). All in all, one of our hands down favorite spots on the Main Line!

    The first time I went to Tango I sat at the Bar, had a good glass of Malbec recommended by the bartender and some apps. The Warm Crab Spinach & Artichoke dip was very good and the black bean soup was INCREDIBLE! I went back at a later date and had the steak and potatoes and again I was very impressed. The restaurant is next to the train station so if you sit in the back you will hear (and feel) the train every time it goes by. But there are quiet cozy places to sit as well.

    Well Main Liners, You all know Tango, has been at the train station for years. Hey, I live in Philly now where every restaurant is amazing. Had an event over at Harcum and lo and behold I see Tango right there, so I walk over with my wife. I mean how good can this place be, it's been here forever. It's a Wednesday hot nite (September) and the place is jumpin' lot of activity at like 8:30PM. Decor: amazing real clean and simple. Get a seat by the tracks. Waitress is attentive, get a basket of rolls and drinks in seconds ...order 2 black bean soups and the salmon....the soups come out in 90 seconds...yeah you heard me right...90 SECONDS...and I mean really really good black bean soup spiced up....Salmon comes out in 6 minutes...6 minutes... ARE YOU KIDDING ME...6 Minutes...and it's friggin amazing salmon with soba noodles...oh man goooooodd stuff...Service was a perfect 10...Will go back anytime...

    We are very fond of Tango and it is definitely our "go to" place on the Mainline when we come to visit family. The staff remembers regular patrons and offers them special service. The food is always good to great, and while not all the dishes are unusual or cuttings edge, the selection is such that anyone can find something that will please. The atmosphere, especially in the booths right on the tracks in the back, is peaceful: You can get a higher energy feeling in the main room or patio, and a more intimate setting in back, something we prefer because we don't drink and want to hear our own conversation. The bread basket is a big plus! Excellent selection. And yes, you can ask for butter instead of the dish of olive oil that usually is put on the table. As for Callan's suggestion above that with a name like Tango the place should have more Mexican food: Huh? Tango is from Argentina. Mexico has nothing to do with tango. I recommend Tango. Medium expensive, highly consistent good quality.

    Food: Wonderful seafood selections. I had the blackened swordfish, which actually was not really "blackened" (it looked grilled and possibly pan fried briefly) but nonetheless delicious. It was laid over a bed of spicy mashed potatoes, which was to die for. My boyfriend had the sea scallops which were cooked to perfection. Their desserts were not that impressive, but did offer a variety of creme brulee, ice cream flavors, and pastries. I tried a pastry filled with "cheesecake" which was good, but not mind blowing. Service: Impeccable. We had a table for 8 and our server was cheerful and attentive. She kept the booze flowing and food was served PROMPTLY. We had a quiet back area for nearly 3 hours and we were not rushed. I definitely recommend Tango for special events. Make reservations in advance!

    Tango is definitely a favorite of mine. I always recommend it as a place to dine when meeting friends in the Haverford/Bryn Mawr area. I was surprised to see the comments about poor service as I have NEVER received less than the best service. The food is phenomenal (my regular dish is the lobster ravioli) as is the total dining experience.

    I was with a party of 6 and while the restaurant was small, they accommodated us with short notice of reservations. The staff was efficient and didn't hover. Maybe its because I ate at Amada last week and so all food is tainted ever more, but I just didn't feel like this restaurant delivered on the upscale promise. I know the bill said we ate an upscale restaurant, but I just was disappointed with the menu altogether. With a name like Tango, I was hoping for more Mexican influences. And while they do have fish tacos on the menu-my brother claims they were delicious- their mexican choices were few. We started with two pitchers of sangria-each 35$. One red and one white. Both were average. At one point my party joked it was a koolaid like mix with a few lemons thrown in and a dash of cheap wine. I didn't get a bit tipsy either. We shared the crab artichoke dip-it was good and full of crab. Everyone ordered something different and I have to say all were pleased with their choices. Everyone got fish, except me, with duck and my boyfriend, getting lamb chops. Having a long history of butchery, he was quite pleased with his choice. The duck was good too. We chose to skip on dessert from being immensely full. My main complaints can be boiled down to two things. The first is that while they had the expected entrees, the side dishes that accompanied them were unimaginative. Or at least most of the dishes were just predictable. How many times have I seen Tuna done asian style with some sort of wasabi. I mulled over the menu so many times not knowing what I wanted not because I was enticed by so many, but more that I was enticed by none. And yes, my meal was good, but it brings me to complaint number two...I don't think it was worth it. I have no problem spending money if I think its worth it, but I feel a bit angry when I leave somewhere feeling like I was had. Maybe they raise the prices on everything because they are located on the Main Line and mainliners only feel something is good if the pricetag says so, but I just didn't think mash potatoes, asparagus and roast duck warranted a $25 plate price. I can make the two side items quite inexpensively. No special or interesting ingredients. Yes it is good if you don't want to go down into the city, but I would be much happier at gulliftys down the street, serving pub food. It was just ok, but the night was full of fun because of the party. I won't be returning.

    Tango is by far one of the best restaurants on the Main Line. It is tucked alongside the train tracks right near the Bryn Mawr train station (so your dinner may be interrupted by the sounds of trains roaring past). The interior design and decor of the restaurant is beautiful as well as romantic. I highly recommend the cashew crusted salmon which I have had several times. The prices are very reasonable for the portions but go early or make a reservation. If you drop in on a weekend, you'll find yourself waiting. Outdoor dining when the weather is nice is also a big plus. If you have never been, definitely a must try!

    There is evidently a curse on this location. You'd think it would work. I've eaten in almost every restaurant that's been in this place, and a lot of them have looked nice and had some decent menu design. Tango fits that pattern. Unfortunately, it also fits another pattern: inconsistent at best in its execution of the food, unpleasant or inattentive service, and a bad price point in relation to the quality of the food and wine. I gave this place four tries before writing it off as another victim of the train-station curse, though Tango seems to be hanging on longer than some of its predecessors. The biggest let-down is the food: dishes that should work are consistently sabotaged by a collision between bland or low-quality ingredients and weak or inattentive preparation and plating.

    I've been a big fan of Tango for years now and they've never failed to please me and my companions with their atmosphere, attitude, variety, and quality. Most recently we went as a party of 12 for New Year's Eve. We started with appetizers aplenty, white and red wines and cocktails flowed. Everyone had a delightfully relaxing time, the service was friendly & fun (took our guff with a smile), and the food was super. One of the things I really like about Tango is the menu selections. Nothing on the menu is ordinary - everything is a little different, or has some sort of twist that surprises your taste buds in a good way. As some of the other reviewers mentioned, their outdoor deck seating is very nice. For the bold and adventurous, go around to the very back tables - eventually an express train will go blasting by on the tracks making your hair stand on end and giving everyone a good laugh. I've spent more than a few nights at these two tables sipping pitchers of Margaritas and nibbling on appetizers in sheer bliss. Tango offers carefully-selected craft brews on tap and in bottles. They also have an extensive martini and wine menu. They have sufficient vegetarian selections for the cruelty-free to have options, and will modify some of the dishes to be meat-free. Tango is literally right next to the SEPTA R5 tracks @ the Bryn Mawr station, making it very convenient for visitors from Philadelphia or the Western burbs. Feel free to get your drink on and take the train!

    UPDATE 09/10/2009: I spoke to Joe, of the Tango managers, about my experience, and he's taking care of it. He's a really friendly, customer service-oriented guy, so I would definitely recommend speaking with him if you have similar concerns about the restaurant. I haven't returned yet to try the food again, so I can't comment on that quite yet.

    I'm a bit confused by some of the other reviews stating that this is one of the best restaurants on the Main Line. You can clearly get better food, service, and overall experience at plenty of other restaurants nearby. We ate here on a Thursday evening and to say the service was slow is being generous. The menu didn't have much variety and we had trouble deciding what to bother trying. When the food finally arrived, we were thoroughly disappointed. All of our entrees were bland and utterly forgettable. Given the prices, we were expecting something of better quality.

    Let's face it, after living in one of the food capitals of the world, New York, it's hard to find a restaurant that surprises in the 'burbs. But when I ventured out of my home turf in PA for dinner with friends tonight, I was pleasantly surprised by Tango. Tango offers contemporary American cuisine, and the menu ranges from your salads, steakes and pastas, to "Mexican specialties". The dishes were very flavorful. Both the steaks and fish were tender and well seasoned. I had the crab cakes which true to its name were made out of lump crab meat with little filling (though it was a little dry). Most entrees came with two sides and the portions were just right; the dessert portions were extremely generous (especially the bread pudding, which eats like a meal). The feel of the place was slightly dim and romantic, but the restaurant's great for groups as well. We had a median size party and the staff was very attentive and personable. Although we munched and chatted on past closing, they were patient and never rushed us. Overall, Tango is a little gem on the Mainline and definitely worth a try.

    You know, I get why people think it's overrated, but there's too much about it I like. The thing is finding the things on the menu they do well and sticking to those: bring back the crispy fried oysters, Tango! The tuna dish is very nice, consistently. The ambiance is good--I always request a booth to watch the trains pass as we eat; they're reminiscent of being on an old-fashioned train, with black fringes hanging between booths to separate them. The front room is nice too when the fireplace is lit and you can sit and check out the latest art installment. My only complaint is that for some reason, this place draws a lot of older types who like to yell into their cell phones and blind you with flashes from their jewels, as they chew out their son or daughter--seriously, this has happened to me twice! Would have given it 4 stars but I did have a bad experience recently where the staff disappeared and was more interested in hanging out and talking than in serving us our meals. The souffle came out cold, and they took it off the bill, but still--3 stars until they make me happy again. But to sum, it's a fun place to bring guests from out of town and is more vibey than some other establishments in the area.

    Went here a few times. First time was cool, good drink specials and was not crowded. 2nd visit made my husband and I laugh when the guy at the the table next to us couldn't figure out the difference between cream of tarter and tarter sauce-and troubled the waitress with this conundrum. Aside from a good laugh, the food was only OK, and they have very few vegetarian options. Although its a great place to take omnivorous visitors from out of town who like to have a lot of options, it's not a regular on my rotation.

    A NYC guy lost in the middle of the sticks in PA in a town I never heard of outside of Philly. Tired And Starved my Navigation system leads me here and what A surprise A NYC type place with a nice vibe, nice wine list and good food. In nyc maybe just an avergae place but for the sticks of PA really good. Enjoyed the food. If I was ever lost in Bryn Mawr?????? i would go again LOL ...Get the strip Steak in a garlic dijon butter sauce with fries....

    After reading all the reviews on Yelp we decided to go to Tango for brunch. What a mistake. Not only did the restaurant smell like vomit, the velvet banquette I sat on was covered in stains and felt moist. My husband and son both wanted to leave after we got our menus, but I did not want to create a scene and as we were in a hurry decided to grin and bear it. Our waiter came over, obviously horribly hung over from the night before, I swear his eyes were bleeding they were so red. He could not remember the specials, kept promising us some rolls that never came, gave us some stale cold focaccia, but the worst part of all was that as I cut in to my quesadilla there were some strips of plastic in there. From what I do not know. I felt sick all day yesterday and still feel like crap today. I am going to write the owners a letter. We should have known it was a dirty place when we walked in, the entrance was filthy and had probably not been swept in months. DON"T DO IT! this is our LAST TANGO for sure. belch.

    Had dinner here not too long ago for the first time. As a bryn mawr student, I've hesitated going here because everyone and their mother (literally) from my school frequents tango. I've always heard a mixed bag review through word of mouth, some say it's over priced, others say that the food isn't even that good. Though I didn't pick up the tab, everything was great. I had the stuffed pork chop, absolutely delicious. I'm not sure what wine we drank, but it was equally fantastic. While the food was good and everything, there wasn't anything that stood out in my mind as "omg I have to come back here". The restaurant was a bit loud and I couldn't hear conversation at my own table. The only thing that would keep me coming here again and again would be if I didn't have a car and didn't have the option of going elsewhere, but I did enjoy my time here and I guess would bring family here if they were in town.

    Went to Dinner here with my friend for her birthday and we had a great time. Service was fast and friendly, the food was nothing short of great, and the whole setting is very nice. I ordered the Spinach and Cheese Ravioli which was very well prepared, my friend had the Bow Tie Pasta with vegetables. This is a great spot to take a date, or have a nice meal in an upscale place, without paying upscale prices. I also asked our server if he could bring out a little dessert with a candle for my friends birthday. He brought out this delicious chocolate cake, with ice cream on top, and fresh berries on the side. It was incredible. Overall we had a great time, and I would definitely come back.

    This restaurant has alot of work to do. Perhaps for Main Liners who never venture out of a four block radius this could be considered palatable food, but for anyone who has sampled true fine dining, this place is nothing short of terrible. I have had better food at Appleby's and much better food at many diners. Firstly, there are short-cuts galore in the dishes we sampled. Everything seemed pre-made and pre-frozen. It was on par with the poorest of chain restaurants. The food had absolutely zero flavor. We spent about a half hour grinding salt onto our food just to attempt to infuse any flavor into it. Whenever I leave a place with the seafood stuck in my teeth because it was so tough, I know there's a problem. The rice was bland and hard, and the beans seemed as though they were poured, sauce and all, out of an institutional can such as what one may serve at a prison. I started getting nervous when I first sat down and noticed tables around us ordering and receiving their food within five minutes (because everything is pre-made). Absolutely horrible.

    Excellent service. We were with a difficult older friend who kept requesting special things from the waitress. She was truly a saint. This was my second visit here and the food was better the first time. The fried calamari was lightly fried and tasteless. The one dipping sauce was sweet and did not help the missing flavor of the calamari. Our wonderful waitress warned me that the jambalaya is spicy, but I ordered it anyway. It did not look that appetizing, but was very good. The chicken, scallops, shrimp, calamari and sausage were cooked perfectly. Often jambalaya will have over cooked seafood. I would order it again. A great location adjacent to the Bryn Mawr train station.

    Let me start by saying that the food was good. It was fresh, prepared well and had good seasoning. However, the rest of the restaurant left much to be desired. I had a reservation for a party of 10 for a celebration but after 20 minutes of waiting for our "reserved" table, without an apology, we asked to be seated at a table that had been open since our arrival. We were quickly seated but I would have expected the front desk staff to have been a little more friendly and aware of the seating possibilities. The service was slow and poor. The waiter broke the cork into an expensive bottle of wine, again, without an apology or offer to cancel the corkage fee. The bread was promised multiple times and the waiter flat out lied to the table to cover his butt for forgetting food items --he was called out on it, embarrassed and then didn't engage with the table the rest of the night. My water glass was empty before the appetizers came and was never refilled. For the amount of money it costs to eat here, I really was hoping for a better experience. However, based on the service I would not recommend the restaurant. You would likely have a better time just eating at the bar, if you don't mind the very loud acoustics of the restaurant.
